if you're on pinterest (and you probably are), you've likely realized how popular wreaths are becoming. we're not talking the generic, buy-at-the-dollar-store and attempt-to-recycle-the-next-year wreaths. no, we mean cute, chic, hand-crafted quality wreaths. they are darling, so of course i wanted one. however, at this time of limbo (too close to halloween, too far away from christmas) i knew that it had to be one that was not holiday-specific, but could last all fall long. i searched pinterest for inspiration, bought my supplies, improvised and...voila:
here is my quick tutorial on how to make one of these yourself.
you will need:
-foam wreath frame
-at least 1/3 yard of burlap
-a roll of festive-colored ribbon
-a letter -- mine was purchased cheap and unfinished from hobby lobby. i just had to paint and gloss.
-burlap flowers. can be purchased from any craft store or hand made from any excess burlap. see here.
here's what you do:
1. cut the burlap into 2 inch strips.
2. wrap the strips tightly around the wreath frame, using a glue gun to secure both ends on the back of the frame until it is completely covered.
3. loosely wrap your ribbon around the burlap-covered frame, securing with glue gun.
4. use glue gun to attach flowers and letter.
5. let dry
easy, right? have fun crafting!
