crafternoon: fall edition

if you're on pinterest (and you probably are), you've likely realized how popular wreaths are becoming. we're not talking the generic, buy-at-the-dollar-store and attempt-to-recycle-the-next-year wreaths. no, we mean cute, chic, hand-crafted quality wreaths. they are darling, so of course i wanted one. however, at this time of limbo (too close to halloween, too far away from christmas) i knew that it had to be one that was not holiday-specific, but could last all fall long. i searched pinterest for inspiration, bought my supplies, improvised and...voila:

here is my quick tutorial on how to make one of these yourself.
you will need:
-foam wreath frame
-at least 1/3 yard of burlap
-a roll of festive-colored ribbon
-a letter -- mine was purchased cheap and unfinished from hobby lobby. i just had to paint and gloss.
-burlap flowers. can be purchased from any craft store or hand made from any excess burlap. see here.

here's what you do:
1. cut the burlap into 2 inch strips.
2. wrap the strips tightly around the wreath frame, using a glue gun to secure both ends on the back of the frame until it is completely covered.
3. loosely wrap your ribbon around the burlap-covered frame, securing with glue gun.
4. use glue gun to attach flowers and letter.
5. let dry

easy, right? have fun crafting!

striped welcome mat from Pier 1 Imports
hippo toothbrush holder from Karma Kiss
bonjour rug from Urban Outfitters
striped pillow from Pier 1 Imports
lime green chair from Urban Outfitters

i love love.

The only perk about having a luncheon and reception on two different days? You get to wear two separate dresses!
(by the way, I realize that wearing white to a wedding is a fashion faux pas. My dress was cream.)

Also, check out the winter wonderland! I'm a little ashamed of myself for being so into the Christmas spirit already since it's not even Thanksgiving, but secretly I'm loving it. But then again, I love any excuse to wear a dress coat.

By the way, the bride's dress? Fantastic. I'm so in love.

Pinterest Inspired

I am so in love with this color scheme. Oxfords + high-waisted skirts + cardigans are magic when complimented with the perfect turquoise necklace.
(I'd recommend pairing this with a plain-white shirt that is fitted enough to be tucked in)

in any season

hair. sweater.
perfect.

Blazer Love

It's no secret that I watch a lot of Kardashians, and I've mentioned before, those girls wear a lot of blazers. The blazer is a perfect staple for the business casual, and if you can find one with a great cut, it can look both feminine and professional. Want to try this look for yourself? Here is what I recommend:

blazer
top
ankle boot
jeggings
necklace
ring
